Odie Project 52 Week 6

My little pup will be 12 weeks old tomorrow. He still is not eating as much as I would like to see. Please just make me not see your ribs anymore boy… But even with his light appetite, he gained another 4 lbs this week. He is up to 26.8 lbs. I guess I can’t expect much more out of him than that is about right with the normal Great Dane growth chart. At least on weight. Odie also had another growth spurt this week. He is up to about 16″ tall. And that’s with his slouching he does. That’s 1.5″ taller than last week. Good thing I feed him the food that is low in protein that tries to slow that process in big dogs.

Be sure to check out his sweet little face on the full size version of this picture. He looks so afraid that I might steal his new toy the latest wind storm provided for him.

Odie Project 52 Week 5

We finally got some snowfall for Odie to play in. This week he has not been eating well. I think he doesn’t like the new food I got him. He is only up to 22.8 lbs. He will be 11 weeks old tomorrow. He did grow quite a bit though. He’s up to 14 1/2″ tall. Anyway, not much to say about him. He is awesome. Super sweet. I wish he was eating more. Also found an oddity in his eye. I will keep an eye on it in case it gets worse, however, I believe it is just a little natural defect. The black portion of his eye around the cornea has an extra wide section of black on one eye.

Odie Project 52 Week 4

This weekend we went for a trip to my cousin’s house. My sweet baby puppy, Odie, got to play with 2 big Dobermans. They were all super sweet. And even when scared by the male, Odie came right back playing. He didn’t stay scared for long. And oh how little Odie loved to torment that poor male. His name is Cain. Cain loved a couple of blankets in the house and hated when Odie would lay on them. So once Odie figured this out, he would not stay off the blankets unless it was to fool Cain into thinking he had a turn, at which point Odie would jump right back on it to make him mad again. It was adorable.

Odie will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. I weighed him tonight. Even after not eating much all weekend, he weighed in at 20.6 lbs. One week ago today he weighed in at 15.8 lbs. So in one week he gained about 30% body weight.

Here is a picture of Odie playing with Zoey.I think she liked having a puppy around to play with. And obviously, Odie enjoyed chasing her around the yard.

Yes, from a photography point of view, this is not my best work. But action shots like this are tough with the kind of equipment I am working with. Especially when I am the one using said equipment.

Odie Project 52 Week 3

I weighed him this morning before giving him his vaccine. He is at 16 lbs. He will be 9 weeks old tomorrow. I have not looked to see how that compares to most Great Danes.

Here is his week 3 picture. You can see the 25% pit bull side of him showing through in this picture. He looks pretty buff. But about 2/3 of the pictures I take of him you don’t see the pit bull side at all. I picked up a new kennel for him. I couldn’t believe how big the thing was when I put it together. But it’s appropriately sized for a full grown Great Dane. And it came with a divider so I can shrink it up unlike his last kennel. He seems to like this one a lot more. Hopefully it helps in house trainig, because so far he has had no problem sleeping where he pees. That needs to stop. Anyway… Here is my sweet puppy Odie at almost 9 weeks old:

As always, click to make bigger. I wish you could see his eyes better. They are still that beautiful blue. But I think they are slowly starting to turn more gray. So that may not last long.
